‘Chirya Meray Angan Ki’ has finally flown onto your TV screens on 12th December. Our Chirya “Kiran” and her love Akbar are victims of stereotypical societal norms. On the one hand is Kiran, whose family is not allowing her to marry someone outside their clan as being their custom and on the other hand is Akbar, whose father wants him to marry a rich girl. His only aim is to get a good amount of money as dowry from Akbar’s future in-laws.
Akbar is an educated and loving person. He is in love with Kiran and wants to marry her regardless of her status. Same is the case with Kiran. Both Kiran and Akbar belong to families that are stuck in age old traditions and lust for money. They are not allowing the young generation to take their own decisions.
While Akbar’s father wants him to marry a rich girl. Each of his sisters-in -law wants him to marry their own sister so that they eventually get a bigger share of the inherited property. Everyone wants Akbar to do what’s right for them but are not willing to understand how Akbar feels. This is a story of two young souls fighting for their right of choice.
Since Kiran is engaged to her Bhabi’s brother through a Watta Satta, her marrying Akbar could also potentially ruin her brother’s relationship. What should this couple do in a society which is not allowing them to make their own choices? Do you think their families should respect Akbar’s and Kiran’s choice? Do you support the family or these two love birds? Should they get married despite all odds? To find out whether Kiran flies with Akbar or not, keep watching ‘Chirya Meray Angan Ki’ at 7:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday only on Geo TV!
