1.Kis Din Mera Viyah Hovey Ga-Season 2
A drama which won many hearts because of two favorite characters, firstly the famous Choudary played by Ijaz Aslam who was yet again on a quest to find a life partner in this season. Secondly, Sheeda played by Faisal Qureshi had donned four characters in this season which included Sheeda himself, Inspector Chewingum, Aunty Shades and Dakku Jabbar Khan.
Together, they both created magic with their humorous performances. The Punjabi accent and the cool attitude of Choudary is always one of his forte but he also depicted himself as a ‘Makneteesi Taqat’ (a magnetic force), which was a treat for the viewers. Moreover, along with these two protagonists, new characters were introduced that added more hilarity in the serial. Other ensemble casts included Gul-e-Rana, Sumbul Iqbal, Sana Askari, Arij Fatima, Tipu Shah and Ayesha Gul.
2.Ek Nazar Meri Taraf
The main concept of the serial is to convey a message of Islam where a widow has the right to re-marry after 4 months of isolation in ‘Iddat’. She has the right to marry the man of her choice but in our culture people usually raise fingers as they have objections on a widow marrying someone else. They want her to stay in the same house in isolation or else it would bring a bad name to the family thus failing to realize that our own religion Islam has given the woman her due right to re-marry.
Written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah and directed by Owais Khan, the story revolved around Siffat married to Haider. Haider’s mother Shamshad Begum was a strong lady who had a command over her house. Faris (Haider’s older brother) did not get along well with his married life and finally had a divorce after which he lived with his mother along with his son. Interestingly Haider had an extra marital affair going on with someone else whom he not only hid from Siffat but also from his family. However after the death of Haider, Siffat lived isolated at the mercy of her mother-in-law.
Though, Raza (Haider’s younger brother) and Faris supported Siffat through thick and thin. Gradually Shamshad begum realized her mistake and let Siffat married off to Faris. The star casts included Alisha Yousuf, Babar Ali, Nouman Ijaz, Mahnoor Baloch, Nibra Bucha and others.

4.Aik Nayi Cinderella
A fairy-tale is a part of every girl’s childhood, where a prince married to poor-orphaned girl and lives happily ever after. Written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Haisam Hassan, the story is inspired by a fairytale but with a twist, there is no happily ever after. Meesha’s story resembles to the real Cinderella, she falls in love with Mair at the first glimpse, and Mair also fell for the unknown girl. But in comes Zaini who gets to know Meesha’s secret and she conspires to win Mair’s love. Zaini is successful in her plan. Interestingly Rooman is also in love with Meesha while helping her to win back Mair’s love.
The beautiful twilight effect of the drama is a depiction of its novelty where characters are not larger than life. Mair is a confused person and he cannot make his own decision. Meesha is not the usual Cinderella where she bears hardships without saying; she is witty and speaks her mind out. The serial is a conventional love story but with a realistic twist.
Love of Zeeshan and Sadia is the prime example of our biased society. Previously Sadia’s father married off her to older Maulvi without her consent. Then the selfishness of Zeeshan’s father has completely ruined the lives of both Sadia and Zeeshan for his personal interest. Sadia gave up her life at the hands of her defeated love. Zeeshan deserted his father and left to find solace which ultimately led him to a shrine.
The drama serial was directed by the renowned film-maker of Khamosh Pani-Sabiha Sumaar, and the writer was Kifaayat Rodini. Mi-Raqsam was the story of rekindling love in a suppressive and biased society. The star casts included Salman Shahid, Waseem Abbas, Aiza Khan and Shahzad Sheikh.
6.Saat Pardon Mein
The drama is another feather in the cap to the Geo TV. The story targeted an issue which on the surface seems harmless but if taken seriously, one can bear extreme consequences. Darkhshande Badar lives in a conservative environment and made her own fantasy world where everything is simple and sweet, though unaware to an outside world; she has taken a step which has become a life-changing experience for her. The craziness of Darkhshande Badar for Ahsan Murad has led her to take a severe step; she elopes on her wedding night and goes straight to Ahsan’s place.
To her utter dismay, the reaction of Ahsan crumbles her world of fantasy. She soon realizes her mistake but going back is not easy especially for a runaway girl. Badar Suleman is the only one to whom she can trust now. The serial is directed by Yasir Nawaz and written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah, and main casts included Sohai Abro, Meekal, and Ali Khan etcetera.
The serial was a story of family egos which if penetrated in any family, it completely destroys a relation. The story revolved around Abeeha, an orphan girl whose life was completely changed; she was blamed for the act which was not her fault. She was forced to marry a person who was not her first choice but it seemed that destiny paved its own way. Rafay was a simple man but with a heart of gold.
The story also reflected the demarcation of daughters and sons as well as the betrayal of trust and respect in the name of ‘useless family pride’. The story was beautifully narrated by Rukhsana Nigar and director was Siraj-ul-Haq. The serial had a star-studded casts including Ayesha Khan, Ahsan Khan, Shagufta Ijaz, Javed Sheikh, Rubina Ashraf, Gia Ali, Savera Pasha and many more.
8.Meri Behen Maya
The serial is the depiction of two sisters’ love and support, and they are the apple of the eye of their father; his decisions are always influenced by keeping the priorities of daughters. Maya is upfront and Zarmina is sensible, both possess opposite nature. There are lots of twists and turns in the life of Maya as she left her home. She has gone through a bad patch in her life and now she is trying to stand on her own feet. Despite her father’s love, she is reluctant to go back home because she assumes to be his adopted daughter.
Directed by Azfar Ali and writer is Hasina Moin, the script is refreshing to see the great bond of sisters who instead of pulling each other down as seen in other serials, support and encourage each other.
9.Milke bhi Hum Na Mile
The new soap is a reflection of patriarchal society, which is imminent in feudal system. Written by Irfan Mughal and directed by Faisal Bukhari, it is a story of rivalry between brothers; family honor is some of the highlighting issues of the serial. Both brothers Syed Rajab Ali Shah and Haider Ali Shah are opposite from each other; the former is conservative and he treats women as his personal commodity, whereas, the latter is an open-minded person who respects women. Rajab puts restrictions not only on his first wife but also on his sisters Mehrunnisa and Zebunnisa. He along with his father is so cruel that they even do not allow both girls to get married in fear of their wealth distribution.
Both brothers are always in a clash because of different mindsets. Thus, anyone close to them has to bear the brunt of ongoing rivalry between brothers. The ensemble casts included Nadeem Baig, Saba Faisal, Asad Malik, Imran Bukhari, Natasha, Zara Akbar, Babar Ali and Zebu; all of them have performed at par excellence.
The serial reflected the ills of society; where a family used their only son to collect the dowry for their three unmarried daughters. Sheikho was innocent and obeyed his parents. He never tried to go against his parents’ desires.
Unfortunately his parents were the main culprits to ruin his life. He was married thrice and was used as bait by his family. Many brilliant star casts were part of this project including Abid Ali, Hina Dilpazeer, Faisal Qureshi, Janaa Malik, and many others who gave a power-packed performance.
